Get Kids Crafty May Blog Hop Gardening theme

It's that time of month again where I share a fun crafty project that I made with my kiddo Riley for Get Kids Crafty.

Hello and thank you for joining us for the May Get Kids Crafty! blog hop! We are thrilled to have you! Our theme this month is gardening and our kids have created some AMAZING projects to share with you!

We had a lot of fun creating our project this month. We made a bumble bee mobile.  Both my kids love the song bringing home my baby bumble bee. Especially my youngest Liam, it seems to usually calm him down when he's upset.  So we created this fun project to the theme of the song.

First we had to die cut our bees, Here is Riley playing with an already cut bee in the Big Shot machine.

Here is Riley turning the handle on the Big Shot machine to cut out all our bees. We had to do 16 in total one for the front and back as you will see in a little bit.

Here is what the finished bee looks like and the die cut that we used from Sizzix ( I am not sure if these particular die is still out there but I'm sure you could find another bee to create with)

So now onto our mobile.  I used the plastic part (The ring) from the diaper genie refill. I am excited that we also recycled something into something new.

This is the view from the top of the mobile.

This is the view from the bottom of the mobile. As you can see there 8 evenly spaced holes under. When I saw this as I was about to put it into our recycling bin I was like ohhh let's make a mobile with this.

So after die cutting all the bees. Riley and I colored the black parts with just a normal black pen.

I didn't get pictures of the next step. But guess what? The bees glow in the dark. How cool is that?  We colored the bees with an embossing pen and then covered the bees in Lawn Fawn's glow in the dark embossing powder.   We used the Marvey heat tool to set the powder.

I wish I could get a picture of them glowing in the dark.  Sadly my camera can't pick up this cool effect. It looks so cool as it's glowing you can see the black and yellow details of the bumble bee.
This is the underneath of the diaper genie refil plastic part where I attached all the bees.

I added Some beads to add some weight to the ribbon. We backed the bees with another bumble bee die cut and hot glue it between the ribbon.
Close up of the plastic ring. Using my Advanced Tape Gun I attached some bee and honeycomb embossing that I did with my Big Shot machine. I am not sure what set this come from as I got them a long time ago.

Then last but not least I printed a picture of the lyrics off from the computer and laminated it and attached it to the middle of the mobile.

It was hard to get a great picture of the whole mobile. As their are so many angles to it but this is the finished product. Now it's time to see what  the others from the Get Kids Crafty Creative team made.
Hop along with us to get some crafty inspiration!
